Velo: Bicycle Culture & Design

Love a good coffee table book and this one seems right up my street.
Velo is a striking visual journey into the multifaceted world of cycling and the diverse tribes that inhabit it.
Velo presents the design and visual aesthetic of today’s cycling culture. The book features examples of T-shirts, caps, bags, flyers, and special equipment such as the spoke cards that bike messengers use in their alleycat races. It also explores the impact the cycling movement is making on contemporary art.
In addition, Velo documents the relevance of bicycles in both rural and urban areas
The book is available through Gestalten.

ALL CITY CREATIVE X Genesis

The guys over at ALL CITY got in contact to let us know about the recent collab they are doing with Genesis. Awesome stuff!
Genesis Bikes are set to unveil a new limited edition of their Genesis Flyer at the IceBike tradeshow in late July.
The ALLCITY© x Genesis Flyer features risers as opposed to the standard drops and is a stark opposite to the classic style of the standard Flyer.
Limited to just 100 individually numbered units across the size range, the sleek single speed Flyer features neat frame graphics by the London design company ALLCITY©, and will retail for £750.
It runs the same unchanged Reynolds 520 frame and includes a selection of choice upgrades like 25c Conti Gatorskin tyres, 105 brake calipers, upgraded Driveline cranks, Shimano sealed BB and classic steel pedals and cages. 56cm and 58cm models should be available after the iceBike launch between July 18-22.

Aende Bikes

I ride a classic Aende track frame from the 80′s, i love everything about the bike including its history. The frame builder Alan ‘Pongo’ Braithwaite hailed from Mansfield, Nottingham-shire, here in the UK. He built frames, specialising in Time Trial bikes, from the late 70′s until the 90′s before he moved to the Philippines and unfortunately died in 2007. I’ve only seen 2 other Aende’s both in London, he was considered one of the top frame builders in the country and there was often a 3 month waiting list for a frame. Love the heritage and love these pictures, more in the photo-stream. My Aende is going into semi retirement this month, with my new build underway.
